MANUAL MICRONEEDLING
(aka FUSION FACIAL)
Manual microneedling, also known as percutaneous collagen induction, stimulates collagen and elastin production. Collagen and elastin are proteins found in our skin that provide its strength and elasticity. They keep our skin looking firm and supple. As we age we have a decrease in the production of collagen and elastin, and this makes our skin thin and fragile, leading to wrinkle formation. Micro-needling involves a device with an oscillating head that has very fine needles causing tiny “micro-injuries” to the skin. This creates channels directly into the skin to aid in the absorption of cosmeceuticals and stimulates your body’s own collagen production. Microneedling by itself can increase collagen production thereby decreasing the appearance of wrinkles. An additional benefit is when it is used with a high quality cosmeceutical it can increase the cosmeceutical’s absorption into the skin by 300%. At ComplexionPerfexion we use a high quality growth factor serum that is generously applied to the skin as the microneedling device drives the serum deep into the dermis. This process stimulates your own natural growth factors, fibroblasts, and collagen, resulting in thicker, healthier skin and skin remodeling to reduce and even resolve the appearance of scars.

What skin problems is microneedling used for?
It is recommended for people with acne and surgical scars, fine lines and wrinkles, large pores, skin discoloration, and generally thin skin.
I have dark skin, can this be safely used for me?
Since microneedling is not a light-based therapy, it can be used on any skin shade, Pigment alteration can occur, but it is a rare side-effect.
Is this treatment painful?
Topical anesthetic is applied to the skin 20-30 minutes prior to the procedure. With manual microneedling, the device is glided over the skin while the cosmeceutical is applied.
How many treatment area recommended and how long does it take to see results?
In most cases a series of 3 to 6 micro-needling procedures is necessary to see most favorable results of this skin care treatment. You will see a noticeable change in skin with 2 to 3 weeks.
What can I expect after a treatment?
Immediately following the procedure the skin will feel tight, dry, swollen, and sensitive to the touch. It will also look and feel sunburned. The sensitivity and redness will diminish significantly within 24 hours. Tiny pinpoint scabs may form 24-72 hours after treatment and will shed over the next 3-5 days. There also can be mild swelling.
What are some of the common side effects?
